Vtiger 7.0.1 Migration Issue with Emails

When doing a migration from a working 6.5 installation to 7.0.1 the process completes successfully.

However, there is a major problem when viewing contact records with linked emails - the list is empty!  This is a show-stopper for me.

I've redone the migration for a second time with exactly the same result. Other link types are showing correctly - e.g. activities, comments, documents.

If I use the Outlook Plug-In to re-link an email to a contact, that record displays correctly in the contact's email list view but all the emails that show correctly in 6.5 are still missing.

Although I've used Vtiger for some time, I'm a newbie when it comes to working out the database structure and table linking.  

Has anyone else come across this issue or have any advice on how to fix?

I just checked a migration I did the other day for a customer from 6.1.0
through to 7.0.1 and emails are showing correctly.

I would suggest, if you can, is set up the code for the migration again
and before actually progressing, enable the debug log.

Once the migration is complete you can then grep (search) the log for
any errors.

But I'm not sure what, if anything, is changed in the database for
emails. The display code has changed a little but comparing the two
systems, the table layout looks the same to me.

Hi Alan.  Thanks for your suggestion.

I've set up the migration yet again and enabled the debug log with the same result.  I can't find any errors.

Only strange thing is that, from the migration screen after entering user and password, it goes to the normal sign-in screen for V6.5.  Entering the same details again takes me back to the migration screen with an error "Invalid Credentials" displayed.  If I enter the same login details for a third time, the migration completes "successfully".  

I've reset the admin password but that makes no difference and still I'm missing the linked emails.

Again, I tried linking a new email to a contact record after the migration and that displays correctly in the list view.

I'm about to give up on this as a lost cause and, at the least, wait for V7.1 or perhaps even look at some alternatives.

Your description makes me think the migration isn't actually running at all.

A few quick suggestions:

Clear your browser cache,
Use a private browsing tab,
Make sure you have no other tabs logged into vtiger before you start.

Hi David, I'm having the same problem. I did a migration from 6.5.0 to 7.0.1 and cannot view the related emails in the lead view.

Did you find any solution for that?

I've not found a solution so far but see others are also experiencing this.  I'm assuming it must be a bug and I think I'll have to wait till version 7.1 is released before spending any more time on it.

Hi all,

Someone called Sasa has come up with a solution to this bug.

Following his/her post, I checked the vtiger_activity table before and after the migration using phpMyAdmin and SQL queries.   All the rows with activitytype =  "Emails" are missing after the migration.

Exporting these rows from the table (using phpMyAdmin) before migration and importing them after migration restores the missing rows (total number of records in the table is then exactly the same before and after) and the missing emails are now referenced correctly in the list view.

So this fix worked for me too.  Many thanks for the solution.
